It’s hard to believe we are already halfway through August. Fortunately, the ultrarunning action is just heating up, with over 40 events on the UltraRunning Magazine race calendar. In this week’s Ultra Weekend Recap, we check in on results from Colorado, British Columbia, Michigan and California.

We kick things off in Leadville, Colorado, for the 41st annual Leadville Trail 100 Run, where David Roche took down an ultrarunning record that many believed might never be broken. Roche finished the iconic 100-mile race in a remarkable 15:26:34, besting Matt Carpenter’s longstanding 2005 record by just over 16 minutes. Second place male went to Adrian Macdonald in 15:56:34, the now fourth-fastest time in race history. Ryan Montgomery finished third (16:09:50). In the women’s race, Mary Denholm ran the second-fastest female time in course history winning in 18:23:48 (ninth overall) and becoming only the second woman (in addition to Ann Trason in 1994) to crack the 19-hour barrier. Zoe Rom finished in second (21:27:41) and Julie Wright (21:48:57) took third. Full results here.

Marcus Ribi finished first male and took the overall victory in 7:17:54, the second-fastest race time ever. Chris Balestrini claimed second (7:33:29) and Dany Racine placed third (7:36:57).
